Message from President of Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA)
On behalf of entrepreneur representative, the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) is willing to see the continuous expansion of Thai tourism business since currently, Thai tourism industry is considered as the key mechanism to drive the country’s overall economy.
MICE industry has been recognized as key mechanism of tourism industry that helps generating revenue and employment to country. This is because MICE traveler having high purchasing power, and demanding good quality product and service, which causes the average expenditure of MICE group 2 – 3 times better than general tourist. In addition, Thailand has been widely recognized in MICE industry since the country has several attractive factors such as diversity in tourist attractions, traditional and cultural charm, unique tastes of Thai cuisine as well as readiness in event venue, and more importantly warming hospitality (Thai smile). All these elements draws attention of many countries in MICE industry, and it is expected increase up high in the future.
However, in order to promote and support Thai tourism industry to obtain sustainable growth, ATTA would like to ask for the government to take consideration upon Double Entry Visa Scheme to give convenience to MICE tourists as this group of tourists has the purchasing power that can initiate repetitive travel, as well as Re-Entry Visa Scheme to give convenience to tourists who travel to secondary cities that have their areas next to the neighbor countries.
